Sharing Our Journey

Here, we share the highs and lows of navigating a breast cancer diagnosis: the treatment plans, the feelings of isolation, the fear, and the unwavering strength found in turning to God. With the understanding that everyone's diagnosis and treatment plan can be different. We want you to know you're not alone.

Happy St. Patty's Day! This day seems to mean more to me now than it did pre-Cancer. Everything is more important after cancer because you see life through new lenses. St. Patrick's Day is the day before my birthday and every birthday is a big deal after a cancer diagnosis. I've been around the sun another year! Woohoo! I made it. This year is extra special because I turn the big 5-0 on March 18th!

I am so thankful for making it this far. For getting to be here for so many milestones. Thank you God for another year to be with my loved ones. I know I don't always show it and I'm not always present, but I am grateful for all the blessings, the provisions and the exciting new opportunities you are opening up to me.

Who knew I would have the drive or strength to start blogging and here I am. It couldn't have been more easier to start. It's amazing how when You want me to do something, it all just falls into place and it happens at the right time. I am continuing to pray on Your purpose for me, but each day I see the plan You have for me and it becomes more clear as each day passes.

Today, I'm sharing a song called Keep Holding My Hand.  When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021, I was in shock at first and then all these emotions started coming out. I wrote this to God because I was having a hard time understanding why this was happening to me.

Lyrics

I am awake late at night While the world sleeps tight I’m wondering why I’m here Left in the darkness of fear I thought I paid for all my sins And turned my wrongs into rights I know I still made mistakes Thought they got smaller everyday Chorus: I'm waiting on You Lord To give me courage When will You strengthen My heart I’m crying out to You Can you help see me through When I don’t see the light It gets hard to lean on You No matter what you have planned Lord keep holding my hand I think of all the suffering Going on around the world Especially all the dying children Who must have been so scared Then the night comes back I’m all alone inside my head Thinking of the worst again It gets so hard to pretend Chorus: I'm waiting on You Lord To give me courage When will You strengthen My heart I’m crying out to You Can you help see me through When I don’t see the light It gets hard to lean on You No matter what you have planned Lord keep holding my hand Bridge: Help keep a smile on my face Help me see the beauty of the day Help me pray for those suffering Help me be thankful for everything Help me be strong for my family And help me be there for my friends Help me see your plan for me Chorus: I'm waiting on You Lord To give me courage When will You strengthen My heart I’m crying out to You Can you help see me through When I don’t see the light It gets hard to lean on You No matter what you have planned Lord keep holding my hand I'm waiting on You Lord To give me courage No matter what you have planned Lord keep holding my hand Keep holding my hand Lord keep holding my hand
